Meal Plans for Alkaline Diet

Alkaline diet is a choice to convert to a healthy eating lifestyle using foods that metabolize or burn in the body during digestion to leave an alkaline residue or ash minerals such as magnesium, calcium, iron, copper and zinc.  Foods are classified into three groups – alkaline-forming, acid-forming or neutral according to the pH of the solution they create with their ash in water.
In general, meal plans for alkaline diet will mainly consist alkaline-forming foods such as green, leafy vegetables; fresh and organic fruits, nuts and seeds, healthy oils such as extra virgin olive oils.  Also, taking dietary supplements such as wheatgrass juice and drinking alkaline water is recommended.  This means you will need to increase the amount or percentage portion of these alkalizing foods in your daily diet.  There are no definite or strict food list that you have to follow; just remember basic principle such as fresh, raw, organic, unadulterated, unprocessed, unpasteurized, unsalted when choosing what to eat and not to eat.
The logical explanation on the maintenance of pH level is the body’s chemistry.  The human blood needs to be kept at a pH (potential of Hydrogen scale of how acid or alkaline something where 1 = severely acidic and 14 = severely alkaline) at 7.35 slightly alkaline.  The human body has a buffer system that it utilize to keep the blood within this tight range of pH, a deviation from this can result in serious medical concern such as various forms of cancer.
The alkaline diet principle clings to the observation that an underlying metabolic acidity in the body caused by Western influence lifestyle is the common culprit why many Americans are obese, diabetic, susceptible to autoimmune diseases or degenerative diseases.  These serious medical conditions can very well be prevented by adhering to proper nutrition, following moderation on anything like alcohol, cigarette or tobacco consumption and keeping active by following a daily exercise routine.
